Spammer Gets Nine Year Prison Term One of the world's top spammers, Jeremy Jaynes, was recently sentenced to nine years in prison under Virginia's anti-spam law for sending millions of e-mail messages to America Online customers. Jaynes, 30, lived in Virginia and was found guilty last year of using false Internet addresses and aliases to send as many as 10 million illegal e-mails a day, prosecutors said. New Banking Rules Require Customer Notification of Data Theft On March 24th, the US Federal Reserves Board issued rules that require banks and other financial institutions to inform customers when they have a security breach and their information has been stolen. In the rules, sensitive customer information includes a customer's name, address, or telephone number, in conjunction with a social security number, driver's license number, account number, credit or debit card numbers, or other information that would allow access to a customer's account.
